A Wedding Tested by the Unexpected
On Friday, 10 July 2026, at 3:00 p.m., the Laughing Forest was unexpectedly put to a massive test. What we thought would be a brief power outage turned into a 40-hour challenge.
Our strategy has always been to have several 7 kVA generators available so that, should one fail, another could immediately take its place. That foresight proved invaluable.
On the very same day, the bridal party arrived in preparation for the wedding the following day, and we were determined that a power outage would not prevent us from delivering the celebration Dani and Cameron had entrusted us to host.
The weather forecast predicted rain and wind. Had Dani walked down the aisle at the scheduled time the next day, it would almost certainly have been a wet walk. Yet, through what we can only describe as divine intervention, our dear friend and meticulous wedding officiant, Dianne, arrived slightly later than planned. As a result, the skies cleared, and the ceremony unfolded beautifully.
Although the South Coast was desperate for much-needed rain, nature seemed to cooperate. The showers were sufficient to nourish the land while somehow working around the wedding itinerary, allowing the celebrations to continue uninterrupted.
Dani and her bridesmaids made a breathtaking entrance, while Cameron and his groomsmen could hardly believe their eyes.
Both Dani and Cameron, who work in Saudi Arabia, are truly a breath of fresh air. They are grounded, genuine, and authentic, and we cannot speak highly enough of the grace and flexibility they showed throughout the day.
Despite the kitchen having to make a few adjustments because of the power outage, the food received glowing compliments. Meanwhile, the generous bar tab ensured that the celebrations quickly gathered momentum, and the dance floor came alive.
